Pre-VIP Sponsor/Honoree Reception Held at EXCELL AUTO GROUP Introduces Honorees
BOCA RATON, FL (October 8, 2018) –The Rotary Club Downtown Boca Raton has sold out its
2018 Boca Raton Mayors Ball months prior to the November 17 gala and secured Office Depot
as the event’s presenting sponsor. The Boca Raton Mayors Ball is now in its 4th year and will be
held at the Royal Palm Yacht Club.
In countdown to the “main” event, the Rotary Club Downtown Boca Raton along with Valet Sponsor Excell Auto Group hosted a pre-Mayors Ball VIP reception for honorees, sponsors and committee members at the Excell Auto Group showroom in Boca Raton. Set amidst magnificent automobiles, attendees enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, wines and a fantastic silent auction as they learned about the plans for this year’s Mayors Ball.
According to Mayors Ball Event Producer and Founding Co-Chair Jon Kaye, the evening will feature a red carpet arrival and cocktail reception followed by a grand epicurean experience set amidst City-themed décor curated by the Boca Raton Historical Society and Museum. The dance floor-filling Steve Chase Band will return by popular guest demand for the fourth year, with a program including live and silent auctions offering rare experiences like tickets to invitation-only celebrity-packed awards events and Broadway performances with personal cast meet-and-greets. There will also be “chance to win” prize drawings with exceptional hotel and resort experiences from near and far.
As always, the highlight of the gala will be the annual presentation of the George Long Awards sponsored by Sklar Furnishings – named for the City’s first appointed mayor in 1924. According to Boca Raton Mayors Ball Co-chairs and Rotary Club Downtown Boca Raton Members
Arlene Herson and Rick Howard as well as Honorary Chair Bobby Campbell (who was a 2017 George Long Award recipient), this year’s event honors the following who have each “championed the tradition of bringing indelible visionary ideas and transformation to Boca Raton”.
- Jerry Fedele (Individual Category)
- Best Foot Forward (Nonprofit Category)
- Modernizing Medicine (For Profit Category)
“Community response has been awe-inspiring for this fourth annual gala to support the health and wellness needs of Boca Raton’s nonprofits,” shared Mayors Ball Co-chair Rick Howard. “The unique type of guest comeradarie that each year crosses decades of civic, business and community leaders coupled with the exceptional caliber of our George Long Award recipients makes this gala an annual must-go-to event.”
Co-chair Arlene Herson, who has served as Red Carpet Mistress of Ceremony each year since event inception, added that the Mayors Ball “was established by the Rotary Club Downtown Boca Raton to celebrate the City of Boca Raton’s visionaries past and present who have elevated the community and who exemplify Rotary International’s motto, ‘Service Above Self’”. Proceeds from the 2017 Mayors Ball benefited 24 Boca Raton-based nonprofits and Rotary International’s Polio Plus Program that helps globally to eradicate polio and other diseases.
