Celebrate the Arrival of our 2019 Historic Ornament
December 5 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Help the Boca Raton Historical Society & Museum celebrate the arrival of the 2019 Historic Ornament of Palmetto Park Pavilion at Red Reef Park Pavilion on Dec. 5th from 4-6 pm!
Since the 1910s, the beach pavilion at the end of Palmetto Park Road has been a landmark and focal point for Boca Raton’s social activities. The humble structures have sheltered beach parties, parade viewers, casual gatherings, and formal occasions. For long time local residents, it is the very heart of the beach. The “lacy pavilion,” shown here, was designed by retired architect and local developer Hermann Von Holst in 1930. It was replaced by a more prosaic structure in 1953.
This is the 18th ornament designed by Boca Raton artist, Barbara Montgomery O’Connell. Donating her time and expertise, Barbara works from our archived photographs to come up with the design.
Ornaments will be available for sale at the event for $20 each, including tax. Orders can also be placed by contacting the Fire Bay Gift Shop and picked up at Old Town Hall. Light refreshments, from the Pioneer Cookbook will also be served.
Please RSVP: FireBayGiftShop@bocahistory.org or by calling 561-395-6766 x102. (Parking fees waived for all attendees.)
